I am working on a new piece that will be unveiled at the Hiroshi Senju Museum Karuizawa in March. It took me six months to select these six colors. The colors are inspired by the image of light of the West, which traveled along the Silk Road and was brought to Japan by Japanese envoys to the Sui Dynasty.

In the fall of 2025, I visited Shiraito Falls in Karuizawa with Chairman Mr. Shinagawa of U-CAN Co., Ltd,  He is also a director of the Hiroshi Senju Museum Karuizawa. He asked me to create work in bright colors, so we went to see the falls together. The sunlight shone through the waterfall, and it truly felt like I was seeing light through the water.

The artwork is almost complete. I've placed blue Post-it notes on the areas that still need attention, and I'll focus on those areas to complete the piece. The work will be unveiled at the Museum on March 1st. This year, it will be displayed as a flat painting. After a year, in 2027, it will be transformed into a six-panel folding screen and displayed as such. I want to show that innovation and tradition are two sides of the same coin.
